InDesign Health was founded to address the increasing incidence of chronic diseases. Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke), cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases (COPD) are the leading causes of death and disability in the world and are driven by lifestyle factors like poor diet, inactivity, and alcohol and tobacco use. Most chronic diseases are preventable and some chronic diseases can be reversed or delayed by addressing risk factors such as smoking, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, poor sleep, and excessive alcohol use. This is why InDesign Health’s Health Risk Assessment was designed based on the 6 Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, restorative sleep, social connection, and other factors.
